As a simple SSL encryption wrapper, Stunnel enables you to add SSL functionality to a wide range of inetd daemons and standalone servers such as NNTP, HTTP, and email protocols. It relies on the OpenSSL library for cryptography, supporting any algorithms compiled into it, and can benefit from FIPS 140-2 validation through the OpenSSL FIPS Provider when built correctly.
